Generate a New Self-Custody Wallet

This feature allows you to create a brand new blockchain wallet key pair (including public and private keys) directly in your browser. This will generate a new self-custody address for you to create a collection card.

Important Security Warning: The wallet generated through this function is a true self-custody wallet. The system will generate and display a mnemonic phrase or private key. You must back up and store this information securely yourself, as it is the only way to recover your wallet and maintain control over your assets.

Key Concepts

• You have complete ownership and control: The entire creation process is completed within your browser. The page only displays the mnemonic phrase and private key during generation and does not transmit this information. Once you complete the backup, all sensitive information will be cleared from the cache unless you choose to encrypt and save it in your browser.
• A self-custody card is created: The collection card created this way is a self-custody address. You are fully responsible for the security of all assets managed by this address.
• Purpose: This feature is for advanced users who want to create a new wallet specifically for receiving payments with Spell and are fully aware of the importance of secure backups.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Go to the wallet management interface, click the Add Card button, and select Create New Address.
2. Click the Generate Mnemonic Phrase button, read the instructions, and then click Continue.
3. The system will generate a mnemonic phrase (usually 12 words), along with the corresponding private key and address.
4. The most critical step: You must accurately and correctly write down and store this mnemonic phrase in a secure environment. We recommend using a physical medium (like a pen and paper) for an offline backup and storing it in multiple secure locations.
5. You have a few options:
   • Copy Mnemonic Phrase: Copy it and add it to another custody wallet.
   • Save Mnemonic Phrase: The system will ask you to enter a wallet alias and password. The mnemonic phrase will then be saved in your browser environment.
   • Generate Address Pair: You can use the master private key to generate any number of public-private key address pairs.

You can recover a saved mnemonic phrase on the creation page by correctly entering the password you set.

Note: Switching browsers or clearing website data will also clear any saved mnemonic phrases. It is crucial to save an offline copy.

Setting Up Your Collection Card

After you’ve backed up your information, you can copy the public key address (be careful not to copy the private key or mnemonic phrase). Then, go to the Import an Existing Address page to import it.

Important Notes

• Security First: If your mnemonic phrase or private key is lost, it cannot be recovered, and any assets in the corresponding address will be permanently lost. Spell cannot help you recover them.
• Prevent Disclosure: If your mnemonic phrase or private key is obtained by someone else, you will lose control of your assets. Be sure to perform backups in a completely secure environment with no webcams or remote software monitoring.
• One-Time Display: The mnemonic phrase and private key are displayed only once during the creation process. You must complete the backup at this time. They cannot be viewed again if you refresh or close the page.
• Active Asset Management: Any asset transfers from an address generated with this feature must be performed by you using the mnemonic phrase or private key in a supported wallet tool (like MetaMask).
